About this deal

From the Set: An insider’s look at life on the set of JAWS, featuring an interview with Steven Spielberg. Dynamic range is sharply rendered and detailed, nicely separating the mids from the highs with extraordinary clarity.

My older brother saw it when it first came out and being a kid who lived inside his own head most of the time; he was able to remember every single line in the movie. It includes some rare glimpses of lobby cards handed out at French screenings, all tagged with “Les Dents De La Mer” - The Teeth of the Sea.

It's shows a malicious and mean streak in the man that's left for us to find ourselves in the final cut. It stars Roy Scheider as police chief Martin Brody, who, with the help of a marine biologist (Richard Dreyfuss) and a professional shark hunter (Robert Shaw), hunts a man-eating great white shark that attacks beachgoers at a summer resort town. In preparation for this review, I decided to take the extra time to re-read The Jaws Log, from Carl Gottlieb, who co-scripted the film and co-starred as Meadows, the lovable town reporter.

Needless to say, Jaws blew me out of my seat and when I had my first glimpse of what a grey goldfish the size of a bus with knives for teeth looked like up close on the big screen I told myself never ever to set foot in the ocean. You get to know Quint, Brody and Hooper; you get invested in the characters and their lives before the climax of the film, which makes it all the more effective. This little lot will take you around 50 minutes to get through if you leave it to play, but sadly the resolution is pretty small, so some might struggle to get through the lot. The film was originally presented in mono so, like most probably are, I dreaded how awkward this track might be. For those unaware, The Jaws Log is a rather sordid, truthful account of the making of Jaws, from the film's humble beginnings, straight through the rather chaotic and tumultuous shoot.

Many of the supplements from previous releases are ported over, but this latest incarnation also offers a couple new surprises, making this Blu-ray edition of 'Jaws' a must-own.

But let's be honest, between the four hours of documentaries and other goodies, there's a lot to love about the bonus features.

Updated daily and in real-time, we track all high-def disc news and release dates, and review the latest disc titles. As one of the most anticipated titles to hit Blu-ray, Spielberg's classic film arrives with a spectacular, reference-quality audio and video presentation that will more than satisfy movie lovers everywhere. Only Quint (the one and only Robert Shaw), a WWII veteran with a personal vendetta against shark-kind, has the skill to pursue the monster. This Blu-ray release sees the wonderful movie brought to the modern day with a fresh and absolutely fantastic restoration that almost makes it timeless.
