In general, machines that are classed as "Very Basic" tend to have only the bare minimum of features needed for sewing and are best suited for those who only sew occasionally, or who are only just learning to sew and do not need more than the most essential features. The machine doesn’t come with a cover of any sort only a thin plastic wrapper (which you could use for the meantime until you sew your own!
The plastic bag that this machine was supplied in should be kept out of the reach • of children or disposed of. Simply Sewing magazine’s Technical Editor Roisin loves every part of the dressmaking process, from sketching to sewing the final design, and enjoys working with luxury fabrics such as silk and chiffon. There is also no needle threader – which is a must for those with visual impairments or painful/unsteady hands. It has the most important stitches: straight, zig zag, blind hem, rectangle buttonhole, and a few extras.

The manual is quite brief, however there are good basic instructions for the features of the machine as well as an instructional DVD. The needle positions on this model also appear to be limited and may only be controlled using the inbuilt stitch presets.I couldn’t sew perfectly straight with the standard foot, so many of my blind hem stitches didn’t catch the hem! In the event a malfunction occurs or adjustment is required, rst follow the • troubleshooting table in the back of the operation manual to inspect and adjust the machine yourself.
Lifting the • machine by any other part may damage the machine or result in the machine falling, which could cause injuries. It can quilt straight lines OK, but the machine does wander slightly to the left/right, so it’s hard to sew perfectly straight. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Standard or full-size machines are the most versatile machine size as they work for a range of sewing applications. If it’s a big deal for you to have really neat-looking, consistent stitches, go for a mid-range machine instead. You’d need a decent desk lamp when working late at night on this machine (you’d expect to use a lamp late in the evenings with any machine, but I have definitely used machines with brighter lights built in).
