Rough language is super hard for me to listen to, but I also understand the world we live in is rough.Granata weaves so much into these pages that it would be impossible not to fall in love with this book. After surviving a suicide attempt, Phoenix Bridges has been given a second chance at life—one she isn’t sure what to do with. Emotional, thought provoking and overflowing with romance that will leave you looking out the window wishing your next door neighbor was a hot, broody cop.
It felt like a book written by someone who used their characters to say what they always wanted to tell someone or wanted to be told by someone. And as soon as I finished it, I wanted to go back to page one and read it all over again so bad that I’m sad that I’m never going to be able to experience it for the first time ever again! James and Nix recognise something in each other that most people can’t understand, connecting on a soul-deep level which is further enhanced by their attraction to each other. They found in each other the sweetest, most wholesome love but also a family they both needed so hard.
Seeking help, talking and having faith helped this character grow in his relationship with family and the girl next door. I had to stop and sigh several times with the things he said and did, not only for Phoenix but for others. Her journey in overcoming depression and learning to love herself and watching her gain a new family and love of her life was incredible.
